WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing and is a complimentary treatment to medical care.
Shown in the picture is the Japanese kanji for “REIKI” is composed of two sections. there is the upper section ‘REI” and the lower section “KI”. The upper section portraying clouds and its meaning has to do with higher levels of consciousness that are beyond ego. This area goes by various names such as Spiritual Consciousness, Source, Prime Creator, Great Spirit, God and more. it is out of these realms that healing, creativity, transformation, pure unconditional love and endless possibilities originate. The middle section of the upper part of the kanji the three rounded squares, portrays the human being, body, mind and spirt. this section represents the healer, practitioner. The lower section of “REI” represents the earth and portrays layers of soil and stone.
The second part of the kanji portrays a pot of rice with steam rising above. this represents “KI” which means the same as Chi, Prana, Ti it is also called biofield energy. KI is lifeforce energy that is found flowing within and around all living things. KI is what animates all living things. If this life force energy is low or restricted, we are more vulnerable to imbalance and illness. KI is also influenced by the mind, positive, healthy, thoughts KI is more powerful, negative, unhealthy thoughts your KI is weakened or becomes unhealthy.
REIKI – energy with a consciousness from the source of creativity, “sent” or channeled through the human practitioner, and delivered to recipients on Earth, including the Earth itself, to restore life force energy for the recipients’ highest healing and greatest good. Because Reiki is a channeled healing, the Reiki Practitioner’s energies are not part of the session and never depleted. In fact, both practitioner and client receive Reiki during the session.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A REIKI SESSION?
Typically, the client will answer questions on a form listing what they might want to receive from the session (Examples: help with quitting a bad habit, pain relief, stress reduction, or simply restore life force energy for a renewed feeling of well-being). There is a brief discussion about the form, and the preferences of the client to ensure sensitive areas such as the hands, feet, knees, etc., are avoided. The fully clothed client can either lay on a massage table or sit in a chair, depending on what is most comfortable for an in-person session. For remote sessions, the client can be wherever they feel most comfortable and can rest undisturbed. To send Reiki, the practitioner may lightly lay hands on the client’s body or hover inches above it (no skin is ever manipulated). Reiki can be sent remotely to any distance; both types of sessions are as equally effective. The session lasts 60 minutes or less, if you choose to. Appointment times last Approximately 80 minutes. During the session, you may feel the energy moving through your body, experiencing sensations such as swirling, tingling, warmth, or even cold. Some people feel pleasantly relaxed and may even fall asleep. At the end of the session, there will be time to gently wake yourself up and ask any questions you may have or share any experiences you would like to share. After care of yourself, be good to you, drink plenty of water, eat nutritious food, take it easy and rest.
